Basically friendly, but 100% of the food comes from the hairdresser and freezer. The bratwurst is fried !!, not fried. Every snack bar can at least keep up here.

It was a wet day at the end of the season and the restaurant was empty. We went in to have lunch to be told dogs not allowed because he has an allergy. Glad he can afford to turn customers away especially as most tourists here had dogs. No wonder the place was empty when all the other restaurants were full. Maybe a sign saying no dogs would be helpful.

Absolute cheek, the waiter apparently had no interest in earning money. We came as a group and were separated on the grounds that he had to keep the other seats free in case a larger group should come. THE SHOP WAS TOTALLY EMPTY. The waiter was rude, made you feel downright undesirable. The prices are overpriced, the food like from the takeaway. Never again !!!!

The waiter was nothing short of a trampled farmer. Super unfriendly and super rude. Very sorry for the super cozy square where he walks around. A letdown of great fun. I don't wish such ill treatment on anyone. It is really not surprising that this restaurant's score is so bad. I now speak of the treatment of guests in mid-September, so no high season at all and not at all busy.

Very below par service with really poor quality food. Sad I didn't read the reviews earlier, as I can see I'm not the only one. They misuse the beautiful spot to lure guests, to then deliver poor quality.

The polite question about a free table is met with the counter question about a reservation. Then comes a short "then not" as you walk past. Hospitality is m. E. different🙁

Fully agree with other reviews with 1 star. Beer was unbranded, lukewarm and without a foam head. Cola too. Fortunately we did not eat there. The cook walked across the terrace in his sweatpants with a cigarette in his mouth and the waiter had a face like an earwig. What a drama this ...

Food was clearly from the freezer so nothing special. The waiter didn't really feel like it and before we even had a chance to tip (which we didn't intend to do) he walked away and mumbled something about Dutch avarice. Avoid! Shame of the location. Choose another table a little closer to the road, the food looked a lot better there.

The food was bad and the beer served lukewarm. Our meat was in a puddle of water and also tasted like it just came out of the freezer. In addition, the waiter was very unfriendly. We didn't tip because of the bad experience and quality, and then the waiter started to scold us too. Would advise against anyone coming here.

Bizarre waiter !! We ordered 2 drinks with 4 people, 2 others were just as busy with a 2 year old. The waiter says: is that all? So I try to explain in German that the rest will come shortly, we also want to have lunch, but we still have to look. If he says, go to the supermarket. Considering the other reviews apparently the way of service here.

We were sent away in an unfriendly manner as we just wanted a drink. They probably want to earn more money and sell everyone something to eat. Seems to have happened before.

Ordered 2 beers, they were warm. Waiter not friendly at all. Too bad because the location is nice, but that's the only thing.

Cordon blue and the spaghetti with chicken were tasty. Fries were well cooked and the cordon bleu was not greasy. Ketchup was delicious. The salad was, as always, great Germany poor Service was adequate.

Super unfriendly and cheeky waiter on the terrace. A drink before you order food is not allowed by this poorly German speaking unfriendly man. We eventually ended up on the terrace of the Stadtkrone at the neighbors' terrace and first had a drink and a delicious meal.

Oh my goodness, if only I had read the reviews before! Also met in a very nasty way with an extremely rude waiter. What an awful man. Fortunately we found out quickly and left before we ordered. When we walked out totally flabbergasted, we also heard from other customers that he was rude to them. What a creep !!

There are so many lovely places to drink/eat in Monschau and this is not one of them! As everyone mentioned, the staff is incredibly rude. It took a very long time for a waiter to come to us. Without saying hello or anything else, he just said: "What do you want to eat?" We said we just wanted some drinks - after all, the establishment IS called a restaurant and cafe. The waiter just began clearing our table and said: "No." We asked him to clarify, he brusquely responded that it was food only. His demeanor was unwelcoming and borderline aggressive - we were being polite so there was no need to be so rude. Looking at everyone's reviews of the food, we were lucky to have left! We then went to Mon Bistro right down the street, where we had some delicious wine and coffee with amazing service!

Even though the location is great I wouldn't suggest this place for dinning. The service was impolite, low hygiene standards and the food its just eatable.

Attention !! drinks and smaller dishes do not qualify !! for a stay. After four of us had taken a seat, we became! - with the hint a schnitzel for everyone minimum is sent away. I have never experienced anything like it. Fortunately, Monschau has numerous other restaurants that their customers appreciate!

The service was unfortunately very unfriendly. Just wanted to drop by for 1-3 beers. In general, the opening times of the restaurants in Monschau are questionable. We were literally chased away. GOOD SERVICE LOOKS DIFFERENT !!! I can't say anything about the hotel, building looks nice from the outside.

Min 3 stars !! When we sat down at the beautiful spot on the waterfront in this idyllic place we did not expect this. Waiter pretended to be crazy and apparently did not like us to drink something before we could eat something later. With us the penny did not fall right and after another attempt to order something where he pointed to full bottles of wine on the map, we left fortunately 😅 Do not know what this entrepreneur wants, but given the reviews I read after this, this is a lost cause.

Very, very bad ... Waiter can't even bear the name, unfriendliness at the top. Seems like he has to work under duress. Really does not feel like it. Overall grubby and dirty impression, but did not visit the toilet ... Place on the water is beautiful, but DO NOT DO IT !!! Food was mediocre, meat clearly from frozen. Really a shame, this hotel restaurant deserves a better manager.

Do not sit on the waterfront on this terrace !! Belongs to this terrible hotel / restaurant. Waiter clearly didn't feel like it. Could only pay in cash. Waited 40 minutes for the food which was not really special.

Regret having eaten on the terrace there, rude waiter, badly cleaning the tables and chairs, throwing leftover food into the adjacent river. Gave a rude answer to a normal question and when mister didn't get a tip he said, "Hollanders for sure." This was once and never again.

After our disappointing experience, we came here just to check the reviews and I am not surprised.! The food was bland.! When we asked for some chilis, the waiter straight away said we don’t have them.! The service was very disappointing.. the waiter seemed very rude and absolutely disinterested.! Since there is no clear partition between this and the neighboring restaurant, we actually sat here by mistake and regretted our decision.! The one star is for river-side location

0 STARS!! I NOT RECOMMEND. It's was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant in my life.. the employees are rude it's as if they are offended to have customers. We didn't have time to even decide what to eat. although the waiter didn't even explain the menu, was looking to us and saying to eat to eat.. and always speaking in german.( but that was funny part, when we realized not could pay with card for signal not had nothing informative about that. We ask and the guy just explain perfectly in English where have bank to get money.. we was speak english they understood but pretended dementia. Dirty place and bad food.

Terrible Service in the restaurant. Bland, tasteless and simply awful pasta. No condiments were on offer, Chips were undercooked, Schnitzel was bland, dry and very disappointing. When asked how the meal was; I expressed my dissatisfaction to be given the answer, “This is a Tourist City” - Hallo!! - What kind of excuse is that!? - How in Hell can they say that in order to justify their complete apathy, when things like good food, good hotels and restaurants make a tourist destination what it is? Overall very Shabby & I would not recommend this ‘Restaurant’ to anyone. Before I forget, The toilets were also filthy, smelly & dirty. Hope this rather gentle review reaches people who want to enjoy something nice to eat in an otherwise lovely part of the world. Top Tip, Try going next door 🤔

Not much in drink menu, staff is bit rude.

It was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. They charged us 81 euros to drink and eat. The beer was warm and you couldn’t even chew the steak. We paid 80€ and said we were sorry but the service, beer and food wasn’t good. And the waiter said, yeah that’s your problem. So 0,0000 out of 100 from me and my family .... Shithole

One star is for the location. All the rest is a nightmare. The personnel is extremely unkind. The choice and quality of food poor. Stay away from this restaurant.

A super picturesque place. Right in the middle of the city. Our room was hanging over the river and looking out over the square. Everything here is warped and you could roll down the hallway because it's so sloped. Beds weren't the worst I ever had, but it was close and the shower is small too. It's a perfect place to stay the night if you want to be right in the middle of Monschau for a fair price and you don't want all the luxury

Hotel is in a good location and you get fresh towels every day. Then the list of positive things is already at the end. There is no proper reception and it was not possible to reach the hotel before arrival. Unfortunately there is no opening time either. Another negative aspect is that you can ONLY pay in cash. Proper bookkeeping that someone has reserved was also not available. Unfortunately, the language was also a barrier.

Dont ever eat in this place. Everything is from the frozen section of a supermarket. Go somewhere else!

We stayed for dinner. The food was ok, nothing special. We were refused dessert though and they didn’t accept payment but in cash. I don’t recommend this place to eat.
